Xiaomi Malaysia has announced that the company will be holding an official launch event on August 18th next week. Although the company didn’t specifically reveal the model of the smartphone to be launched on the day, but speculations were rife that the company will be launching the long awaited Xiaomi 12 Lite 5G which had already been certified by various certification authorities.
For those who may not know, the Xiaomi 12 Lite is currently the most affordable model within the Xiaomi 12 series lineup which also include the vanilla Xiaomi 12 and Xiaomi 12 Pro (Review). Unlike the other devices within the same series, the Xiaomi 12 Lite is powered by a mid-range Snapdragon 778G chipset which will be paired with up to 8GB RAM and 256GB onboard storage in the memory department.
Upfront, the phone features a 6.55” AMOLED display which offers a FHD+ screen resolution, 120Hz refresh rate, as well as HDR10+ support. For selfies and video calls, the phone also has a 32 megapixels front-facing camera housed within a centered punch-hole cutout.
At the back, the phone comes with a rectangular camera island which is home to a triple-cam setup comprising of a 108 megapixels main camera, 8 megapixels ultra-wide camera, as well as a 2 megapixels macro camera for close-up photography.
Other than that, the Xiaomi 12 Lite will also be backed by a respectable 4,300mAh battery with 67W fast-charging support. It’ll be offered in three different colorways such as Black, Pink, and Green.
