There have been prior reports suggesting that the Xiaomi 14 series would run on a self-developed operating system known as MiOS. However, Wang Hua, the General Manager of Xiaomi Group’s PR department, has clarified that terms like MiOS, CNMIOS, and others rumored were inaccurate.

This is primarily due to potential copyright issues, as they contain “iOS,” a term owned by Apple. Xiaomi has finally resolved this uncertainty by officially naming its new operating system HyperOS. While specific details about the Hyper OS remain undisclosed, the company is expected to reveal more information shortly.

Rumors surrounding the Xiaomi 14 lineup claim that it will be announced on Oct. 27 in China. Both devices are expected to debut as the first Snapdragon 8 Gen 3-powered smartphones. It is speculated that Xiaomi’s HyperOS could be available in the global variants of the Xiaomi 14 lineup, which is expected to happen in 2024.

The HyperOS is said to be a universal operating system that will not only run on Xiaomi’s smartphones, but also on other products, such as tablets, AIoT devices, and cars. It appears that the idea behind HyperOS is similar to Huawei’s Harmony OS.
