Xiaomi is expected to unveil the Xiaomi 15 series of smartphones in October of this year in China. Speculation suggests that the Xiaomi 15 and 15 Pro will be the top smartphones equipped with the next-generation Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 chipset. A new leak, courtesy of tipster Experience More, has revealed the camera specifications of the Pro variant.
Xiaomi 15 Pro camera specifications (rumored)
The leak reveals that the Xiaomi 15 Pro will have three 50-megapixel cameras on its back. The leaker revealed that it will have an OmniVision OV50K primary camera, which is a 1-inch sensor.
A 50-megapixel ultra-wide lens will accompany the primary snapper. In addition, there will be a 50-megapixel Sony IMX882 telephoto camera that will offer 3x optical zoom. Despite the IMX882 sensor’s slightly lower resolution when digitally cropped images compared to the OmniVision OV64B sensor, the leaker highlighted its excellent power consumption and technical specifications.
Compared to the Xiaomi 14 Pro’s 50-megapixel Samsung JN1 sensor, which had a cropping factor of 2.9x to 3.2x, the IMX882 shows significant improvement. However, the performance also depends on the aperture size. While the leaker did not specify, the ongoing collaboration between Xiaomi and Lecia will bring support for the latter’s camera optimizations.
The Xiaomi 15 lineup will also include the Xiaomi 15 Ultra, which is expected to launch in the first half of the coming year. At present, there is concrete information about the camera specifications of the Ultra variant.
