Xiaomi 15 series battery size leak reveals major upgrade

Xiaomi is expected to unveil the Xiaomi 15 and Xiaomi 15 Pro in October of this year in China. The Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 chipset will power these devices, making them the world’s first phones to feature the new chip. For the past few months, the rumor mill has been slowly leaking details about these phones. The recent Weibo post by reliable tipster Digital Chat Station seems to have revealed the battery sizes of the Xiaomi 15 lineup.

DCS’ Weibo post suggests that the rated battery capacity of the Xiaomi 15 is 5,260mAh, while the Xiaomi 15 Pro has a rated capacity of 5,850mAh. The typical capacity could be 100-200mAh higher than these figures.

Both models will support wireless charging and utilize a 4.45V high-density silicon material, which allows for larger battery capacities within the same physical volume.

Should the aforementioned leak prove accurate, the Xiaomi 15 series’ battery performance will significantly surpass that of the Xiaomi 14 lineup, which made its debut in October 2023. To recall, the Xiaomi 14 came with a 4,610mAh battery with 90W fast charging support, whereas the 14 Pro houses a 4,880mAh battery with 120W rapid charging. Both handsets support 50W wireless charging.

The tipster hinted in the comments section of the Weibo post that the Xiaomi 15 Ultra will pack a battery of around 6,000mAh capacity. While the standard and Pro models are expected to debut in October, the Ultra edition may break cover within the first half of 2025 in the Chinese and global markets. As per reports, the 15 Pro will remain exclusive to the Chinese market, whereas the 15 may be released in the global market in the first quarter of 2025.
