Xiaomi 15 Ultra tipped to debut launch earlier than its predecessor

In February 2024, Xiaomi unveiled the Xiaomi 14 Ultra in China. Early reports suggested that the Xiaomi 15 Ultra would succeed by launching around the same time next year. However, tipster Digital Chat Station’s recent Weibo post suggests an earlier announcement for the Xiaomi 15 Ultra.

DCS’ Weibo post suggests that the Xiaomi 15 Ultra will make its debut in January 2025. This indicates that Xiaomi could rival other flagship phones, such as the Oppo Find X8 Ultra, the Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra, and the Honor Magic 7 Ultimate, which are expected to feature the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 chip and debut in the same month.

As far as the Xiaomi 15 and 15 Pro are concerned, both devices are expected to launch as the world’s first SD8G4 phones in China in October of this year. According to reports, the Xiaomi 15 Pro will remain exclusive to the Chinese market, whereas the standard and Ultra models are expected to launch globally in Q1 2025.

Coming back to the Xiaomi 15 Ultra, leaks have revealed that it will have a quad-curve OLED display with micro-curvature design and an ultrasonic in-screen fingerprint sensor. Although the screen size remains unknown, we expect it to support a 2K resolution and a 120Hz refresh rate.

The Snapdragon 8 Gen 4-powered phone is expected to ship with 24 GB of RAM, 1 TB of storage, and HyperOS 2.0-based Android 15. While it may house a 6,200mAh battery, there’s no information about its rapid charging capabilities.

The 15 Ultra’s rear camera setup may house a 1-inch+ primary camera, an ultra-wide lens, and a telephoto camera. For higher zooming capabilities, the device is expected to feature a 200-megapixel Samsung HP9 periscope telephoto camera with 4x optical zoom.
