Xiaomi has just launched the Xiaomi 15 and 15 Pro equipped with the Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset in China. The lineup will include the Xiaomi 15 Ultra with a more powerful camera system than the Pro version. The rumor mill has been consistently leaking details about the 15 Ultra’s cameras in bits and pieces. Today’s leak, courtesy of tipster Digital Chat Station, reveals details about the 15 Ultra’s telephoto camera.
In the above leak, DCS can be seen talking about an upcoming SM8750 (Snapdragon 8 Elite) chip powered phone. The contents of the leak suggest that he could be referring to the Xiaomi 15 Ultra, which is expected to feature the same chipset.
According to the tipster, the 15 Ultra will have a 50-megapixel Sony IMX858 telephoto camera with a 70mm focal length and 3x optical zoom. It will support an f/1.8 aperture and a physical focal length of 11.51mm. The sensor size is 1/2.51″, utilizing its full capacity without cropping. The device will support telephoto macro photography with dual telephoto lenses and come with a new photography kit to enhance the photography experience.
The tipster disclosed last week that the 15 Ultra features a 50-megapixel primary camera with a customized hardware module, an f/1.6x aperture, a 23mm focal length, and a longer physical length than the 14 Ultra. For ultra-wide shots, the device is also expected to feature a 50-megapixel Samsung JN5 sensor. The camera setup will also include a fourth 200-megapixel periscope telephoto camera with an f/2.6 aperture, a 4.3x optical zoom, a 100mm focal length, and a 25.xmm physical focal length.
According to another leaker, the mass production of two “Ultra” branded flagship phones, which appear to be the Xiaomi 15 Ultra and the Vivo X200 Ultra, will begin in March 2025. Therefore, it seems that both phones will make their debut either by late March or in Q2 2025.
