In July 2022, Xiaomi confirmed that it had partnered with Leica to offer an improved photography experience on its flagship phone. The Xiaomi 12S Ultra, Xiaomi 13, 13 Pro, 13 Ultra, and T-series flagship phones are all equipped with Leica-optimized cameras. Today, the company officially confirmed that the upcoming Xiaomi 14 series will also feature Leica-engineered cameras.
Xiaomi 14 series launching in October
The Weibo post released by Xiaomi today states that Xiaomi and Leica have collaborated to introduce an innovative optical system solution, featuring the finest Leica Summilux lens available in the realm of mobile photography to date, combined with a cutting-edge high-dynamic image sensor designed for mobile optics. This partnership aims to deliver mobile devices with unparalleled and precise capturing abilities in various situations and scenarios, ensuring superior performance at all times.
This remarkable optical system will make its debut in the upcoming Xiaomi 14 smartphone series, set to launch later this month (October) in China. Some reports have claimed that the company will unveil the Xiaomi 14 and 14 Pro on Oct. 27, and there have been reports that these devices will debut on Oct. 31.
The official confirmation of the launch date is expected to surface next week. Qualcomm will be holding its 2023 Snapdragon Summit to announce the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chip in the coming week. It appears that the Xiaomi 14 series launch date will be soon confirmed after the launch of the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3.
The Xiaomi 14 Ultra is also part of the 14 lineup, but it is unlikely to launch this year. Reports claim that Xiaomi is planning to announce it in Q1 2024.
