All the top-of-the-line 2023 Android flagship phones feature the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chipset. However, there have been some rumors that the Snapdragon 8 Plus Gen 2 chipset will power new flagship phones. As the moniker hints, it will be an overclocked version of the existing Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chip.
In the above screengrab, tipster DCS has revealed that the Snapdragon 8+ Gen 2 will be just overclocked SD8G2 chip. However, since the cost of the chip is high, it appears that the phones powered by the new chip may carry an expensive price tag.
The tipster added that the SD8+G2 chip is currently being tested by MMOi companies. It refers to four brands, such as Xiaomi, Meizu, OPPO, and iQOO.
Rumors are rife that the iQOO 11s, which is expected to debut in the third quarter of 2023, could be the first phone to feature the SD8+G2 chip. The Xiaomi phone that will feature the new chip could be the rumored Redmi K60 Ultra.
It is unclear which OPPO smartphone will feature the Snapdragon 8 Plus Gen 2 chipset. However, a recent leak revealed that the Realme GT Neo 6 will have the same chipset. The Ace 2 Pro could be the OnePlus phone that is expected to feature the Snapdragon 8 Plus Gen 2 chipset.
At present, there is no information available on the configuration of the Snapdragon 8 Plus Gen 2. Hopefully, the upcoming reports will reveal more details about the chipset.
