Xiaomi Mi 8 Youth Edition & On-Screen Fingerprint Version Released

Yesterday was a very busy day for Chinese manufacturing giant, Xiaomi, as it released two new versions to the Xiaomi Mi 8 series. These are the Xiaomi Mi 8 Youth Edition and the Mi 8 On-screen fingerprint version.

Xiaomi Mi 8 Youth Edition

The Xiaomi Mi 8 Youth Edition is equipped with a 6.26-inch display. It is powered by a Snapdragon 660 processor (against the much-publicized SD710) coupled with 4GB/6GB of RAM and 64GB/128GB of internal storage. Xiaomi Mi 8 Youth Edition

In the camera department, the Xiaomi Mi 8 comes with a dual rear camera setup which has a 12MP rear camera (1.4?m pixel size, dual-core focus, f/1.9 aperture), which is accompanied by a 5MP secondary sensor. On the front, the phone carries a 24MP camera (Sony IMX576), which is the highest front-facing camera supporting AI. The latter includes multiple options, such as AI portrait mode, AI scene camera, AI makeup beauty, AI video beauty, and automatic HDR. The Xiaomi Mi 8 Youth Edition 4+64GB is priced at 1399 yuan ($204), the 6+64GB costs 1699 yuan ($248), and the 6+128GB is available at 1999 yuan ($291). It will be available for purchase starting September 25.

Xiaomi Mi 8 On-Screen Fingerprint Version

The Xiaomi Mi 8 Screen Fingerprint Version is consistent with the regular Xiaomi Mi 8 with the major difference being the on-screen fingerprint sensor. This is Xiaomi’s second phone to come with an on-screen fingerprint sensor after the Xiaomi Mi 8 Explorer Edition. The company claims that the fingerprint sensor is much improved in this new version by as much as 29%. The Xiaomi Mi 8 on-screen fingerprint version still comes with a 6.21-inch notched Samsung AMOLED and it was produced in three colour options which include Twilight Gold, Meteorite Black, and the transparent variant.

It is powered by a Snapdragon 845 chip coupled with 6GB/8GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage. In the camera department, we have a 12MP+12MP dual-camera with AI zoom  on the rear, a 20MP front shooter up front. The Xiaomi Mi 8 Screen Fingerprint 6+128GB version is sold at 3199 yuan ($467) and the 8+128GB version costs 3599 yuan ($525). They will go on sale on September 21.
