A mysterious Xiaomi smartphone called Xiaomi MI A1 that has a model number of MDG2 has been recently found listed Xiaomi’s RF certified list of smartphones. The Chinese firm has not used the same product on any of its previous smartphones. The Xiaomi A series appears to be a new line of smartphones from Xiaomi.
The Xiaomi Mi A1 seems to have received FCC certification as it MDG2 was spotted on the U.S. telecommunication agency’s site. The FCC listing of MDG2 had revealed that it features a 3,000mAh battery.
It is speculated that the Xiaomi Mi A1 could slot itself between Xiaomi’s Snapdragon 835 driven flagships like MI MIX 2 and Mi Note 3 and mid-range Xiaomi Mi 5X. Speculations suggest that it could be driven by Snapdragon 660 chipset. It could be the rumored Xiaomi Jason phone that had appeared on GFXBench with Snapdragon 660 around two months ago.
The Redmi Note 5A has been also found listed on the RF exposure page. Xiaomi has confirmed that it will be holding an unveil event for the budget smartphone on Aug. 21. It is expected to arrive as a larger version of Redmi 4A. The leaked details suggest that it does not feature a fingerprint reader. An image shared by the company that shows the Redmi Note 5A with a fingerprint reader which suggests there would be a higher version of the phone featuring a fingerprint scanner.
