Last year, Xiaomi had launched the Mi A1 as its first Android One phone in September. Also, the Redmi Note 5A was introduced as Redmi Y1 in November. The source code of Xiaomi has some text about the successor models for the aforementioned phones. Hence, it is speculated that the Mi A2 and Redmi Y2 may arrive in India soon.
In 2017, Xiaomi had launched the Mi 5X smartphone in July in China. The very same phone was introduced without the MIUI 9 ROM as Mi A1. The rumor mill has been spilling information on the successor Mi 6X from the beginning of this year and it has already received certification from TENAA authority in China which indicates that its launch is close at hand. It is speculated that the same phone would be hitting in India and other overseas markets Mi A2. According to reliable tipster Ishan Agarwal, the source code of the Xiaomi’s official site for India carried texts like “Mi A2 Hard Case”, “Redmi Y2 Perforated Case Black” and “Redmi Y2 Perforated Case Blue.” These texts are no longer present in the source. However, it can be speculated that the Mi A2 and Redmi Y2 could be launching soon in India.
As of this writing, there are no details available on the specs of the Redmi Y2 phone. More details on these phones are expected to appear in the near future.
