After the official launch event of the Huawei Mate 30 series in China, Richard Yu, Huawei’s CEO of Consumer Business Group was interviewed about his thoughts on the recently announced Xiaomi Mi Mix Alpha.
Yu’s response to the question was short and sweet. ‘This (Xiaomi Mi Mix Alpha) is only a concept phone, there is no practical use to it,’ Yu said. While that’s true to a certain extent, such a remark definitely infuriates some of Xiaomi’s executives out there.
Xiaomi’s VP Lu WeiBin is one of those who’re obviously unhappy with Yu’s comment, and quickly brought the debate to Chinese Weibo. In response, he took shot on the Huawei Mate 30 RS Porsche Design by asking a simple question:
If wraparound display has no “practical use”, then what’s the “practical use” of engraving a foreign car brand on the phone, and then selling it for an additional grand.

Surely, such an exchange between top-level executive isn’t something we saw on a daily basis. But regarding their topic on “practical use”, we believe both of them resonates the feeling most of us had regarding these two devices.
