Earlier today, OPPO released an official statement to debunk rumors that it would exit the foldable phone market. A new leak by tipster Smart Pikachu revealed that the brand is working on a flip-style foldable phone. The same leak also mentions the launch timeframe of the Xiaomi MIX Flip.
Last year, OPPO announced the OPPO Find N3 Flip in August in China and it was soon released in the global market. However, a couple of days ago, rumors started swirling that a few Chinese smartphone brands would stop launching foldable phones this year. This is not because of lower sales, but due to the high cost of repair.
As mentioned above, OPPO’s official statement on the issue mentions that it will continue to launch foldable phones as usual. The new leak, which aligns with OPPO’s confirmation, states that the company’s next flip-style phone will launch in the second half of the year. However, it is unclear whether the device will be called the Find N4 Flip or N5 Flip because the number 4 is considered a bad omen in some Asian countries, including China.
In addition, the leaker claimed that the Xiaomi MIX Flip will be launching before the MIX Fold 4. As per a recent leak, the MIX Fold 4 is likely to launch in the second quarter of the year. It is likely that the MIX Flip may launch in March or April in China. The device has already been certified by the MIIT authority in China, which indicates that its launch may not be far away.
The new leak reiterates previously revealed details about the MIX Flip. The device is expected to arrive with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chipset, a high density battery, and support for satellite connectivity. Other reports have claimed that it will also feature a telephoto camera.
