Popular tipster Digital Chat Station has revealed the tentative timeframe for the launch of Xiaomi’s next-gen foldables. The Chinese manufacturer has been launching a book-style foldable every year since the debut of Mix Fold in 2021. This year, it’s the turn of Mix Fold 4. It won’t be the only foldable Xiaomi product to launch this year. It has been speculated that Mix Fold 4 will be accompanied by the company’s first clamshell-style foldable Mix Flip.
Xiaomi Mix Fold 4, Mix Flip camera specifications (rumored)
Digital Chat Station reports that the third quarter of this year will see the unveiling of both phones. Previous leaks have ruled out a global rollout. Mix Fold 4 and Mix Fold will be available exclusively in Xiaomi’s domestic market.
Both Mix Fold 4 and Mix Flip will debut with Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 at the helm. This news has raised some eyebrows, as the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 is around the corner, and Xiaomi is rumored to be the first adopter.
That aside, both foldables will sport similar camera specifications. Xiaomi will use a 50-megapixel shooter with a 1/1.55” sensing area and optical image stabilisation for the primary camera. Likewise, they will feature the Omnivision OV60A with a ½.8” sensor for the 2x telephoto camera. Xiaomi MIX Fold 4 will also feature a 12-megapixel ultrawide camera and a 10-megapixel periscope telephoto camera with 5x optical zoom.
The phone will also have wireless charging support. The actual battery size and charging speed are still unknown. The phone will have some sort of waterproofing, according to Digital Chat Station. For reference, none of the Mix Fold devices has had any IP rating so far, making Mix Fold 4 the first to debut with one.
Despite using high-strength material, the phone’s body will maintain its slim design. It is said to break the record for the thinnest foldable, a feat currently held by Honor Magic V2.
