Xiaomi has officially confirmed that the Redmi 5 and Redmi 5 Plus will be made available on Dec. 7. Fresh information suggests that the Redmi 5 will be the cheapest smartphone among the all the full screen phones that have been released by smartphone OEMs.
Fresh information suggests that the Redmi 5 and Redmi 5 Plus would be available for purchase starting from Dec. 12. It is rumored that Xiaomi is preparing a lot of stock of the Redmi 5 duo to meet the huge demand.
Speculations have it that the Redmi 5 would be coming with a 5.7-inch display that will support HD+ resolution and it will be powered by Snapdragon 450 chipset. It is expected to come in variants like 3 GB of RAM and 32 GB of storage and 2 GB of RAM and 16 GB of storage. It is rumored to feature 5-megapixel front camera and 12-megapixel rear camera.
The Redmi 5 Plus is pegged to come with 5.99-inch FHD+ display, Snapdragon 625 chipset, 3 GB / 2 GB RAM variants and 32 GB / 64 GB storage models. It is expected to house the same cameras as Redmi 5.
The 16 GB and 32 GB Redmi 5 are rumored to be priced at 699 Yuan (~$105) and 999 Yuan (~$150). The 32 GB and 64 GB Redmi 5 Plus are speculated to cost 999 Yuan (~$150) and 1,299 Yuan (~$196).
