XDA Developers has been spilling out specs of the upcoming Xiaomi phones through leaked firmware files. Today, the publication has claimed that Xiaomi may soon launch a new budget phone called Redmi S2. It has also shared the specifications of the phone through its leaked firmware files.
The exact size of the display of the Xiaomi Redmi S2 is not known, but it has been revealed that it would be featuring an 18:9 aspect ratio screen that will produce 720 x 1280 pixels resolution. The Snapdragon 625 chipset will be present under the hood of the Redmi S2. There are no details available on the RAM variants of the phone. It will be having a base model of 16 GB. It could be also available a higher storage option of 32 GB. The handset will be loaded with MIUI 9 flavored Android 8.1 Oreo. It is expected to be fueled by 3,080mAh battery.
The rear panel of the phone may feature 12-megapixel Sony IMX486 or 12-megapixel Omnivision OVA10 as the main sensor that will supported by 5-megapixel Samsung S5K5E8 sensor. The same Samsung sensor is expected to be present as front-facing camera. The firmware files show existence of Chines and Indian variants of Redmi S2. Hence, the smartphone could be heading to these markets in the near future.
