Xiaomi announced the Xiaomi Mi Note 10 back in 2019 as the world’s first smartphone with a 108-megapixel camera. Rumors have it that the company is working on a new phone with a 200-megapixel camera. Today, well-known tipster Digital Chat Station took to his Weibo handle to reveal some of the key features of the mysterious Xiaomi phone.
According to the tipster, Xiaomi is working on a new smartphone that is powered by Qualcomm chip that has an sm8450 part number. This chipset is supposed to replace the Snapdragon 888, which was announced in December last year. While the final marketing name of sm8450 is not known yet, the rumor mill has dubbed it as the Snapdragon 895.
Although the leaker revealed the specs of an upcoming Snapdragon 895 SoC-powered handset, but he failed to mention its brand name. The bunny emoji that can be seen in the Weibo post is a clear hint that he is talking about an upcoming Xiaomi phone.
The leak reveals that Xiaomi is working on a new flagship that features a punch-hole display with curved edges. This phone will be sporting a 200-megapixel primary camera. However, it remains to be seen whether it launches as the first phone featuring a 200-megapixel camera.
Past reports have claimed that the Xiaomi’s 200-megapixel camera phone will be featuring Samsung-made lens. It could be a 1/1.37-inch sensor that may carry support for 4-in-1 and 16-in-1 pixel binning technology. Devices featuring the 200-megapixel camera may allow users to capture 16K videos.
Apart from the above-mentioned phone, Xiaomi is also working on several new phones with codenames such as evergo, evergreen, zeus, cupid, psyche, pissaro, pissaropro, cygnus, bestla, hyacinth, divine, lepus, and mercury. Among these, Xiaomi is expected to offer an in-screen selfie camera on three handsets such as cygnus, divine, and lepus. The final product names of these devices are yet to be revealed. Probably, these models will be arriving in the market with Mi, Redmi, and POCO branding.
