ZTE Axon 20 5G Will be World’s First Smartphone with Under-Display Camera

Many smartphone manufacturers in China are gearing up to offer up to 125W fast charging solutions on their phones. Rumors have claimed that the trend will shift to under-display camera feature in phones arriving in 2021. All of a sudden, the Ni Fei who is ZTE Terminal’s President for Business Unit took to Weibo that the company will soon launch the world’s first under-screen camera smartphone.

The executive did not reveal the name of the world’s first smartphone under-display camera. Also, he did not reveal the launch date of the device.

A reliable tipster from China has shared of a screenshot of the State Radio Regulation of China (SRRC). The image reveals the existence of a new 5G-capable ZTE phone with model number ZTE A2121. According to the tipster, the handset will be arriving in the market ZTE A50 5G.

The name suggested by the tipster sounds different from the general naming strategy of the brand. Probably, it could be the ZTE Axon 20 5G phone. The reason behind it is that the Axon 10 Pro 5G had ZTE A2020 model number. So, the Axon 20 5G seems to be suitable name for the A2021 phone.

Leading brands like Huawei, Honor, Xiaomi, OPPO, Vivo and so on are all said to be working on the under-display camera solution. However, ZTE will be the first brand to make it available to the general users. It is speculated that the company could be making use of Visionox’s technology that recently confirmed the mass production of its under-screen camera solution.

At present, there is no word on the specifications of the ZTE A20 5G. it remains to be seen whether it debuts as the next flagship phone from the brand.
