ZTE Axon 40 Pro live images emerge before launch

ZTE is scheduled to announce the Axon 40 series of smartphones on May 9 in China. The lineup may include as many as three models: the Axon 40, Axon 40 Pro, and Axon 40 Ultra.

The Ultra model will be a premium flagship featuring an under-display camera and an OLED panel with extremely curved edges. Fresh images of the alleged Axon 40 Pro have begin making rounds on Weibo. The images show that it will sport a different design as compared to the Ultra model.

As can be seen in the images, the alleged Axon 40 Ultra features a curved edge display. The upper and lower bezels appear slightly thicker, and it has a punch-hole placed at the top-center position.

The rear design of the Pro model is also different from that of the Axon 40 Ultra. As can be seen, the top-left corner of the phone’s rear shell has a 108-megapixel primary camera at the top. The second camera ring houses two auxiliary cameras. A fourth camera, along with an LED flash unit, can also be seen placed inside the camera module.

The right edge of the device has a volume rocker and a power button. It appears that a fingerprint scanner could be embedded in the display of the device. Unfortunately, there is no information on its specifications.

The Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 will be powered by the Axon 40 Ultra. It remains to be seen whether the company offers the Axon 40 Pro with the same chip or a different Snapdragon 8-series SoC. The possibility of it coming with the Dimensity 9000 cannot be ruled out.
