After receiving positive feedback on the ZTE Axon 7 that was launched in 2016, the company did not a successor phone for it in 2017. Instead it had launched the Axon M foldable smartphone that was met with mixed reactions from the critics and audience. The company was barred from selling its smartphones in the U.S. after it had violated the laws of the country. In the previous month, U.S. has lifted its ban that was imposed on in it three months ago. Now that ZTE Axon 9 Pro moniker has surfaced on RMA data and HTML5 test, it appears that the Chinese manufacturer is working on Axon 9 and Axon 9 Pro smartphones.
Earlier this year, ZTE had trademarked Axon 9 and Axon 9 Pro monikers. Upcoming ZTE phones labelled as A2019 Pro and A2019G Pro have appeared on RMA data. The Axon 7 was internally referred to as A2017. Hence, the A2019 smartphone could be the Axon 9 Pro and G could refer to global edition. Hence, there is a possibility that the company could be releasing a Chinese edition and an international version of the smartphone.
As of this writing, there is no information on the specifications of the smartphone. If they company has been working on its smartphones, there is a possibility that it may unveil Axon 9 and Axon 9 Pro at the IFA 2018 tech expo that will be held at the end of this month.
