Xiaomi Mi 6 To Feature a Snapdragon 835 Chip with Reduced Clock Frequency

Speculations are rife that Xiaomi’s expected Mi 6 flagship could feature a Snapdragon 835 chipset with lower clock frequency. A reduction in the frequency could fasten the production process, thus making it possible for the device to use the chip ahead of the Galaxy S8.

Inside info from Samsung ‘s factory had suggested that the Snapdragon 835 chip would be reserved for Samsung’s flagship and that the ones being produced now would be reserved for the Samsung flagship. But in order for the Mi 6 to go ahead with its scheduled March launch, there are indications the SD 835 chip with a reduced frequency clock could be used on the Xiaomi Mi 6. The LG G6 which was rumored to be coming with a SD 835 chip as well, is now rumored to use a Snapdragon 821 chip, apparently due to the shortage.

The same scenario of getting reduced clock speed played out on the Mi 5 when it launched packing a Snapdragon 820 chip way back but that didn’t affect the overall performance of the device The Snapdragon 835 chip comes with enough firepower that a reduction in its clock frequency would really not affect it.
