Xiaomi Mi 8 SE, the First Snapdragon 710 Phone Launched for 1,799 Yuan

At the unveil event of Xiaomi Mi 8 and Mi 8 Explorer Edition, Xiaomi has also unleashed a mini version of the Mi 8 dubbed as Xiaomi Mi 8 SE. It is the first smartphone ever to feature the Snapdragon 710 chipset.

Xiaomi Mi 8 SE Specifications and Features

The Xiaomi Mi SE houses a 5.88-inch S-AMOLED screen that supports 18.7:9 aspect ratio and FHD+ resolution. The screen delivers an aspect ratio of 86.12 percent. Like the Mi 8 phone, it also comes with a metal and glass combination chassis. The Mi 8 SE comes in colors like Red, Blue, Gold and Gray. The Snapdragon 710 SoC that has arrived as a successor for the SD660 powers the Mi 8 SE. It includes a native storage of 64 GB. The handset comes in 4 GB and 6 GB of RAM.

The rear panel of the Xiaomi Mi 8 SE includes 12-megapixel + 5-megapixel dual camera setup. The main sensor has a pixel size of 1.4micron pixel and carries support for AI scene detection and portrait mode. The handset features a 20-megapixel AI selfie camera for snapping bokeh shots. The handset runs on Android 8.1.0 Oreo flavored with MIUI 10. It receives power from 3,120mAh battery. It is fitted with a rear-mounted fingerprint reader.

Pricing and Availability

The 64 GB + 4 GB and 64 GB + 6 GB variants of the Xiaomi Mi 8 SE are respectively priced at 1,799 Yuan ($280) and 1,999 Yuan ($312). It sales will begin from June 8.
