Even though Huawei has been given a 90 days reprieve from the recent trade ban issued by the US Department of Commerce, but consumers’ confidence has been plummeting amidst growing fear that the company’s devices may stop working as intended due to the cutting off of critical services or future Android and security updates.
In order to tackle those concerns among consumers, Huawei has specifically developed a “Huawei Answers” page within their official website to answer some of the common questions consumers have in mind. On the site itself, Huawei has confirmed that most of the crucial apps which are frequently used by consumers including Facebook, Instagram and Whatsapp can be downloaded as used as per usual. Similarly, they have also pledged to roll out the latest Android Q update to 17 smartphones once it is released by Google. As a quick recap, the smartphones listed below are slated to be updated to Android Q:
- Huawei P30 Pro

Of course, getting their smartphones updated will not be an issue within this 90 days reprieve period. However, we’re not sure how the update could be carried out once the trade ban goes into full effect after August 19th as it will prohibit US firms from selling or transferring technology to Huawei.
Apart from individual efforts from Huawei to boost the consumers’ confidence, some retailers across various Asian markets including Singapore and Philippines have also issued their own Assurance Warranty to ensure consumers that the devices will operate as per normal within one or two years from the time of purchase.
