Lenovo Z5s unveiled with SD710 SoC and Android 9 Pie system

After weeks of teasers, leaks and, speculations, Lenovo finally released the Lenovo Z5s in an event held at its global headquarters in Beijing, China. At the start of the event, the company first announced the Lenovo S5 Pro GT version which is powered by a Snapdragon 660 SoC, an upgrade from the pre-existing SD636 regular version. All other specs remain the same. The company then announced the Lenovo Z5s which is Lenovo’s first Android 9 Pie smartphone.

The Lenovo Z5s comes with an all-metal body design which employs the advanced CNC laser process and its high-intensity middle frame is designed with an aerospace aluminum material. Running on ZUI 10 based on Android 9 Pie, this smartphone fully supports full-screen gestures, unlimited storage cloud service, 4D U-Touch gestures, U health platform, and other features. The company said that this smartphone will receive regular monthly updates.

The Lenovo Z5s is powered by a Snapdragon 710 AIE Turbo processor which is equipped with a Game Turbo engine. It is available in three colour options and four version in terms of RAM and internal storage. We have the Star Gray, Titanium Blue, and Coral Orange colour options. In terms of RAM/ROM/price, Lenovo Z5s 4GB+64GB version sells for 1398 yuan ($203), 6GB+64GB sells for 1598 yuan ($232) while the 6GB+128GB sells for 1898 yuan ($275).

In the camera section, this smartphone comes with a triple rear camera setup. Three 16MP cameras with F/1.8 large aperture are lodged at the rear while a 3300mAh battery with 18W fast charge support keeps its lights on. One interesting aspect of this smartphone is that it retains the  3.5mm headphone jack and USB Type-C interface which is lacking in many recent smartphones. The reservation for this smartphone commenced today and the first outright sale will hold on December 24th. In addition, the Lenovo Z5s also launched a custom version which will be on pre-sale on December 19. This version comes with a 1998 Yuan ($290) price tag and there are only 4,160 units worldwide. Lenovo also surprised us with the Lenovo Z5 Pro SD855 version which is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 SoC. On AnTuTu, this smartphone scored 368,480 points which outrun the best-performing iPhone XS with 355596 points.
