Galaxy Note 8, the First Dual Rear Camera Samsung Flagship is Official

The Galaxy Note 7 from the previous year had to be discontinued because of its faulty battery issue. Hence, the Galaxy Note 8 is now official as the successor phone for the Galaxy Note 5 from 2015.

Design

The Galaxy Note 8 follows the same design like the Galaxy S8 duo as it features a full-screen Infinity Display. The phablet comes with IP68 certified chassis and has a Gorilla Glass 5 back panel. It comes in three colors like Midnight Black, Orchid Gray, Maple Gold and Deep Sea Blue.  The Galaxy Note 8 measures 162.5 x 74.8 x 8.6mm and its weight is 195 grams. Its edges feature a microSD card slot, a compartment for S Pen, USB-C port, a Bixby button, and other keys for Power and volume. The backside of the phablet features a fingerprint reader. Below the display is the pressure-sensitive Home button.

Specs and Features

The Galaxy Note 8 features a 6.3-inch Super AMOLED Infinity Display that produces a QHD+ resolution of 2,960 x 1,400 pixels and an aspect ratio of 18.5:9. The U.S. market receives Snapdragon 835 edition of the Galaxy Note 8 and the other markets will be getting the Exynos 8895 edition of the phablet.

It has 6 GB of RAM and is available in multiple storage choices such as 64 GB, 128 GB and 256 GB. It is powered by a 3,300mAh battery. The dual rear camera system includes a 12-megapixel wide-angle f/1.7 aperture lens and a 12-megapixel telephoto f/2.4 aperture lens with 2x optical zoom. Both lenses support OIS. The frontside houses an autofocus enabled 8-megapixel selfie shooter.

The S Pen comes with 4096 levels of pressure sensitivity and it can be used to add or remove notes from always-on display. It can be used to send GIF images that is dubbed as Live messages. The smartphone runs on Android 7.1.1 Nougat OS and Samsung’s Experience UI.

Pricing and Availability

The Galaxy Note 8 pre-orders begins from Aug. 24 and it will be available for purchase starting from Sept. 15. It will be available in the U.S. for $930 for the unlocked unit and it will come in Orchid Gray and Midnight Black colors along with freebies like Gear 360 camera or a 128 GB microSD card + fast wireless charger.
