China Produced Over 1.4 billion Smartphones In 2017

No doubt, China is the heart of smartphone manufacturing. It is the largest smartphone market in the world and if any manufacturer can capture China, it is in for some cool revenues. There are tons of smartphone manufacturers (domestic and foreign)  in China both large and small. The likes of Huawei, Xiaomi, Apple, Vivo, and Oppo are currently on top of the Chinese smartphone manufacturing business but we also have ZTE, Meizu, OnePlus and others which are trying to make a name for themselves. Reports coming out of China suggests that 1.4 billion smartphones were produced in China.

The Chinese Ministry of Industry and Information said that China’s smartphone manufacturing and exports sustained a rapid growth and this trend is likely to continue this year 2018. The report said that a total of 1.9 billion phones were produced which means that smartphones alone made up 3/4 of the total phones produced.

As of now, China is a very competitive place for smartphone business. The likes of LG has given up on the competition and it recently quit the market while local brands like Xiaomi and Huawei are rapidly expanding abroad. While Xiaomi is mostly opening Mi stores in foreign countries – the most recent in the Philippines, Huawei is trying to strike lucrative deals with carriers in some countries for its products to be sold. Though it (Huawei) recently faced a setback when the US rejected the company, its fairly strong ties with the UK seem to be some sort of consolation.
