Samsung Galaxy S26 FE Review: Bringing the Galaxy Sparkle Within Reach

One of the things I’ve always liked about Samsung’s Fan Edition smartphones is how they bring some of the most appealing features of the flagship Galaxy S series to a more accessible price point. The new Samsung Galaxy S26 FE continues that familiar formula, packing in several of the features that make Samsung’s premium phones so appealing while keeping the price at a more approachable S$1,018 for the 8GB+128GB model. From its vibrant AMOLED display and versatile triple-camera setup to its Galaxy AI features and long-term software support, there is plenty to like about this latest addition to the Galaxy family. What I particularly appreciate is how Samsung has gone beyond the hardware itself, bringing together a collection of features that can make everyday smartphone use more convenient, creative and enjoyable.

The Galaxy S26 FE makes a pleasant first impression with its clean design and fresh Pistachio finish. I’ve always felt that a good smartphone design doesn’t need to be overly elaborate to stand out, and this particular colour gives the phone a distinctive personality without going overboard. Its familiar Galaxy styling also lends it a polished, contemporary look that feels right at home alongside Samsung’s more expensive models. At just 7.4mm thick and 193g, the phone feels reasonably slim and manageable for a device with a 6.7-inch display. The aluminium frame and Corning Gorilla Glass Victus+ add a reassuring touch of durability, while the IP68 rating provides protection against dust and water. These are practical touches that I appreciate, especially on a phone designed to deliver a premium Galaxy experience without the flagship price tag.

Naturally, one of the first things I look forward to when picking up a Samsung smartphone is its display, and the Galaxy S26 FE doesn’t disappoint on paper. Its 6.7-inch Full HD+ Dynamic AMOLED 2X panel delivers the vibrant colours, deep contrast and fluid scrolling that have become hallmarks of Samsung’s display technology. Whether I’m catching up on the latest tech news, scrolling through social media, reviewing photos or unwinding with my favourite videos, having a large and responsive screen makes a noticeable difference to the overall experience. The 120Hz refresh rate keeps animations and scrolling smooth, while peak brightness of up to 1,900 nits should help maintain good visibility when using the phone outdoors. Although the resolution stays at Full HD+, I think the combination of screen size, brightness and smoothness makes this a very appealing display for both everyday tasks and entertainment.

Under the hood, the Galaxy S26 FE is powered by Samsung’s Exynos 2500 processor, paired with 8GB of RAM and 128GB of storage. For me, the real measure of a phone’s performance is how comfortably it handles the demands of daily use, whether that means switching between apps, juggling multiple tasks, browsing the web or squeezing in a gaming session after a long day. The S26 FE also has the processing capabilities to support Samsung’s Galaxy AI features, which add another dimension to the experience. Circle to Search remains a handy way to look up unfamiliar objects or information without interrupting what I’m doing, while Photo Assist opens up more creative possibilities when editing images. Together with One UI, these features help make the phone feel like more than just a device for getting through everyday tasks. Samsung’s commitment to extended software support is another welcome advantage, giving me greater confidence that the S26 FE can remain a useful companion well beyond its first year of ownership.

Battery life is another area I pay close attention to, particularly when I’m out and about taking photos, browsing websites and keeping up with messages throughout the day. Thankfully, the Galaxy S26 FE comes equipped with a substantial 4,900mAh battery, which Samsung rates for up to 29 hours of video playback. While real-world endurance will vary depending on screen brightness, gaming habits and how frequently its camera and AI features are used, the battery capacity provides a solid foundation for getting through a busy day. When it eventually needs a top-up, 45W wired charging offers a convenient way to replenish the battery, while 15W wireless charging gives me the flexibility to charge without having to plug in a cable. I would have liked to see even faster wireless charging, but having both options means I can choose whichever suits my routine.

Photography is another reason the Galaxy S26 FE catches my attention. I’ve always appreciated having a versatile camera system that lets me adapt to different scenes without having to think too much about which lens to use, and Samsung has covered the essentials here. The 50MP main camera with optical image stabilisation is joined by a 12MP ultra-wide camera for expansive landscapes and group shots, as well as an 8MP telephoto camera with 3x optical zoom for bringing distant subjects closer.

Samsung’s ProVisual Engine and Nightography features are designed to improve image processing across different lighting conditions, which should come in handy when moving between bright outdoor scenes and dimly lit environments. The upgraded 12MP front camera is another welcome addition, especially for those who enjoy taking selfies or squeezing more friends and scenery into a single shot. On paper, this is a well-rounded setup that gives me the flexibility to experiment with different perspectives instead of relying on a single camera for everything.

Beyond the cameras themselves, Samsung has included several creative features that make the Galaxy S26 FE more interesting to use. My Fancam, for instance, can turn wide-angle event footage into a subject-focused tracking video, which sounds particularly useful when recording performances or other occasions where the action doesn’t stay in one place. Photo Assist also lets me make image adjustments using natural-language prompts, offering a more intuitive way to refine a shot without having to work through every editing tool manually. I like that these additions go beyond simply increasing megapixel counts, giving users more creative ways to capture and edit their memories.

All things considered, the Samsung Galaxy S26 FE is an appealing all-rounder that brings together style, performance and smart features in one polished package. I particularly like how its vibrant display, versatile camera system and Galaxy AI capabilities make everyday use more enjoyable. For those looking for a premium Galaxy experience without stepping up to a flagship model, the S26 FE makes a very compelling choice at S$1,018.
