A mysterious Xiaomi phone with a name of “Xiaomi Dipper” has appeared on Geekbench with flagship specifications. Since the Chinese manufacturer has been using the names of constellation as codenames for its Mi series phones right from the time of Mi 2, it seems that Xiaomi 7 could be codenamed as Dipper based on Big Dipper constellation.
The Geekbench listing of the phone reveals that the Xiaomi Dipper will be coming with Snapdragon 845 chipset alongside the 6 GB of RAM. It will be arriving with Android 8.0 Oreo pre-installed. The Xiaomi Dipper has scored 2449 in single-core test and 8309 in multi-core test.
Recent reports have revealed that the Xiaomi Mi 7 may arrive with a 6.01-inch OLED display supplied by Samsung. The handset may carry support for Always-On Display function. It is also speculated that it will be equipped with in-screen fingerprint reader. The handset is also rumored to support 7.5W wireless charging. The 6 GB RAM variant could be its base model and the handset also feature a higher model featuring 8 GB of RAM and an internal storage of 128 GB.
Xiaomi will be launching the Mi MIX 2S smartphone on March 27. Launching the Mi 7 soon may cannibalize the sales of the Mi MIX 2S. Hence, the Mi 7 is speculated to debut in June this year.
