Considering the fact that HTC has given away a part of its smartphone manufacturing division to Google and it has been laying off employees, it seems that the company will be launching fewer smartphones in 2018. Fresh information shared by reliable tipster Evan Blass states the HTC will be launching U12+ flagship instead of U12.
Blass had previously claimed that the HTC U12 flagship phone would be launching by late April. However, the leakster is now claiming that the handset would be debuting by early May as the company had encountered some issue during the development process.
Last year, HTC had launched U11 in May followed by the arrival of U11+ in December. Blass is of the view that the company would be directly launching the HTC U12+ smartphone which indicates that it may not debut the HTC U12 handset. Shown below is a new render revealed by Blass:
The U12+ is expected to arrive WQHD+ resolution supporting 6-inch LCD display. The Snapdragon 845 chipset and 6 GB of RAM will be powering the 64 GB and 128 GB storage models of the U12+. It will feature a 3,420mAh battery. The handset will be coming with second-generation Edge Sense pressure-sensitive frame that can be squeezed for carrying out different functions. Blass claims that the company will be also Desire 12 and Desire 12+ mid-range phones.
