Galaxy Note 9 to be Redesigned; Release Date Reportedly Delayed by Two Weeks

It was recently reported by The Bell that Samsung may debut the Galaxy Note 9 earlier this year by launching it in July. However, the same South Korean publication has claimed that the release date of the Galaxy Note 9 has been delayed by two weeks because of change in design.

The publication claims that Lee Jan-Yong, the Vice Chairman of Samsung had been to Shenzhen to checkout what features are available on competing smartphones from brands like Xiaomi, Oppo and Vivo. After realizing that the smartphones from other brands are offering grip, the Chairman has reportedly asked Samsung engineers to reduce the thickness of the display glass of the Note 9 by 0.5mm.

Last year, the Galaxy Note 8 had launched in August. The initial rumors of Note 9 had claimed that it may debut in July. Now that company has reportedly decided to delay its arrival by two weeks, it seems that the Note 9 may get announced in August and release in the market by the end of the month.

The Galaxy Note 9 will be facing competition from rivaling flagships such as 2018 iPhones, LG V40, Huawei Mate 20 and Google Pixel 3 XL. Its rumored features include 6.38-inch S-AMOLED Infinity Display, Snapdragon 845 / Exynos 9810, 6 GB of RAM and 128 GB of native storage. The Note 9 is unlikely to feature an under-display fingerprint scanner.
