ChinaJoy 2018, the annual gaming trade show is currently going on in Shanghai. Many manufacturers that specialize in gaming devices have participated in the event. Razer Global vice-president Chen Xiaoping has revealed through an interview at ChinaJoy 2018 that a new Razer smartphone may launch by the end of the year in China.
Last year in November, Razer had launched the Razer Phone as its first gaming smartphone. According to Chen, the upcoming Razer smartphone will be powered by Qualcomm’s latest chip that will allow the smartphone to deliver better performance. The original Razer Phone was powered by Snapdragon 835. Ideally, the Razer Phone may feature the Snapdragon 845. However, since Chen has claimed that the new Razer Phone is launching by the end of 2018, it is speculated that the smartphone could be equipped with the 7nm Snapdragon 855 that is slated to go official in December this year.
Razer is known for various gaming devices including high-performance gaming laptops. The Razer Phone that was announced last year has not arrived in China yet. It seems may skip its release in China and directly launch its successor device in the country. As of this writing, there is no information available on the specifications of the rumored Razer Phone 2 smartphone.
The original Razer Phone is equipped with 5.7-inch 120Hz Sharp IGZO Quad HD display, Snapdragon 835, 8 GB of RAM and 4,000mAh battery.
