During the official launch event of the Redmi Note 8 series, Redmi has revealed that the company’s first 5G smartphone will be announced next year – putting an end to speculations that there could be a 5G device this year.
Previously, Redmi’s GM Lu Weibing has revealed that the upcoming Redmi K30, successor of Redmi K20, will be able to support 5G network out of the box. After the news broke up, many believed that the K30 will probably be Redmi’s first-ever 5G smartphone.
Keeping in mind that the Redmi K20 was only recently announced in May this year, we are likely to wait another 6 months or more for the arrival of the new K30 series which should be announced around March to May period next year.
Currently, most of the 5G smartphones in the market comes with an extremely hefty price tag – with iQOO Pro 5G being one of the cheapest you could currently find.
