Huawei has officially confirmed that the company will be debuting a new 65-inch Smart Screen (or so-called Smart Display) on September 19th in Munich, Germany. That’s the same date and location for the upcoming Huawei Mate 30 launch event, so it will undoubtedly be announced during the same event.
Most likely, the new Smart Screen will be powered by Huawei’s in-house HarmonyOS, which has became the company’s first choice alternative for Android OS after the US trade ban came into play. This is in fact, the same OS which has been used in the recently unveiled Honor Vision and Honor Vision Pro.
Reports have suggested that the upcoming Smart Screen had already been certified by the Bluetooth SIG, carrying the model numbers HEGE, OSCA-550, OSCA-550A, OSCA-550X, and OSCA-550AX. It’s official listing had revealed that the device will be running on the EMUI HomeVision which could be an UI Skin based on the HarmonyOS.
Similar to the Honor Vision, the Huawei Smart Screen will no doubt be a IOT-centric device which not only behaves as a TV, but is also an “an information-sharing center, a control management center, and a multi-device interaction center.”
The device is expected to be driven by the HongHu 818 octa-core SoC which will process the onscreen images. There is also a pop-up camera which support video calls, facial recognition, body tracking and posture detection.
Apparently, the Huawei Smart Screen is already available for pre-order in the Chinese market starting today.
