Despite the hefty price tag, the Huawei Mate X foldable smartphone was sold out during it’s second round of sale in China earlier today.
However, it’s not only the upfront payment which is astronomical. The cost of repairing the device is an expensive affair too. According to Huawei, you will need to fork out an insane 7,080 Yuan (US$1,006) for a screen replacement. With that money, you could perhaps get yourself a brand new Mate 30 Pro or even a Galaxy Note 10.
That’s not all, the battery and motherboard replacement will also set you back with 278 Yaun (US$40) and 3,579 Yuan (US$509) respectively. In fact, all the components of the Mate X are marked with considerably higher replacement cost as compared to other Huawei smartphones.
In comparison to the Samsung Galaxy Fold, the cost of screen replacement for the Mate X is still significantly higher than the former. For the Galaxy Fold, Samsung offered a flat US$149 first-time screen replacement, and US$600 for subsequent replacements.
But of course, if you’re able to own such an ultra-luxury smartphone, we believe it wouldn’t be much of an issue for you to fork out that amount as well.
