Huawei Nova 6 made it’s official debut with Kirin 990 SoC under the hood

After a considerably long wait, the Huawei Nova 6 finally made it’s official debut through a glamorous launch event in China.

Not surprisingly, the Nova 6 has pushed the boundary of all mid-ranger smartphones we have in the market with new innovations and technologies under the hood.

Huawei Nova 6 Design

First and foremost, the Huawei Nova 6 features a near bezel-less display with a pill-shaped, hole punch on the top-left corner which houses two selfie cameras.

It’s rear panel has a visually appealing iridescent sheen that changes color when viewed from different angles. There will be a total of four different color options to choose from including Black, Blue, Blue-Purple Gradient, as well as Red.

For the Red variant, it will be exclusive only to the 5G model and will come with a unique patterned design on the rear panel made up of repeating “Nova” logos.

Huawei Nova 6 Specifications

The Huawei Nova 6 will be available in both 4G and 5G models which only have some slight differences between them.

Both devices will come with a 6.57-inch IPS LCD display with 1080 x 2400 pixels screen resolution. This time round, the Nova 6 will not be coming with any under display fingerprint sensor and will be employing a side-mounted fingerprint sensor instead.

The 4G model is driven by the Kirin 990 SoC, while the 5G model is powered by the Kirin 990 (5G) which has an integrated Balong 5000 modem within the chip to enable 5G connectivity on the device. Moving on to it’s memory compartment, there will be up to 8GB worth of RAM and up to 256GB onboard storage space.

In terms of photography, there will be some slight differences between the 4G and 5G model. Although both devices come equipped with a 32 megapixels main snapper as well as an 8 megapixels ultra wide sensor, but the 5G model be featuring a f/2.2 aperture lens, as opposed to a f/2.0 aperture lens found on the 4G model.

Similarly, the autofocus feature of the front-facing camera will be exclusive only to the 5G model as well. In case you’d missed out, the Nova 6 5G currently sits at the top position for DxOMark’s selfie category with an incredible score of 100 points – which put it one point ahead of the Samsung Galaxy Note 10+ 5G.

As for it’s rear camera, both models will share the same triple-camera setup comprising of a 40 megapixels (f/1.8 aperture) main snapper, an 8 megapixels (f/2.4 aperture) telephoto lens, as well as an 8 megapixels (f/2.4 aperture) ultra wide lens. Sitting besides the main camera module will be a laser autofocus.

The 4G and 5G models will be fueled by a 4,100mAh and 4,200mAh battery respectively. The battery on both mdoels will be able to support up to 40W fast-charging which is capable of charging the device from 0 to 70% within 30 minutes.

Huawei Nova 6 Pricing & Availability

The Huawei Nova 6 will be available only in a single 8GB+128GB memory configuration which will set you back with 3,199 Yuan (US$454).

The Nova 6 5G on the other hand, will be offered in both 8GB+128GB and 8GB+256GB models which will come with a price tag of 3,799 Yuan (US$540) and 4,199 Yuan (US$596) respectively.

Although there is no news on it’s international availability, but the Nova 6 and Nova 6 5G will go on sale in China starting December 12th.
