Huawei P40 & P40 Pro specifications leaked ahead of official unveiling

The Huawei P40 flagship series will finally make it’s global debut on March 26 next week. As usual, Huawei has been bad in keeping their upcoming flagship devices in total secrecy. That has been the case for the Mate 30 series, and now the P40 series as well.

Just yesterday, a couple of the Huawei P40 Pro’s renders were leaked. Today, even the official specs of the P40 and P40 Pro were leaked out as well. Apparently, most of the devices’ key specs had already been revealed by Indian publisher 91Mobiles.

Huawei P40 Specifications

First and foremost, the Huawei P40 will feature a 6.1-inches display which has a pill-shaped cut-out on it’s top left corner. The cut-out compartment is said to house a single 32 megapixels main shooter even though earlier reports suggested it to have a dual-camera setup. Unlike the other P40 flagship phones, the Huawei P40 will utilize a flat panel at the front.

On it’s rear panel, there will be a familiar-looking rectangular camera module which play host to a LEICA Ultra Vision triple-camera setup. This will include a 50 megapixels main shooter, 16 megapixels secondary sensor as well as another 8 megapixels sensor. Besides that, the device also support Huawei XD Fusion Engine and up to 30x digital zoom.

Under the hood, the Huawei P40 will be driven by the flagship Kirin 990 SoC. The P40 will be equipped with a slightly toned-down 3,800mAh battery which is capable of supporting up to 40W wired charging and 27W wireless charging.

The Huawei P40 Pro on the other hand, will tout a slightly larger display which measures 6.58-inches diagonally. The device will feature a so-called “Quad-curved display” which is a term coined to describe it’s subtle curves along the edges. The pill-shaped cut-out on the top left corner will house a 32 megapixels main shooter and a depth sensor.

On the flip-side, the P40 Pro’s camera system will see a significant upgrade over the vanilla P40. There will be a quad-camera setup which will play host to a 50 megapixels main shooter, a 40 megapixels secondary shooter, a 12 megapixels sensor, and a ToF sensor. It will also support Huawei XD Fusion Engine, and is able to support up to 50x SuperSensing Zoom with telephoto stabilization.

In terms of internals, the Huawei P40 Pro is also powered by the flagship Kirin 990 SoC. It will feature a slightly buffed up battery which has a capacity rating of 4,200mAh. Similar to the vanilla P40 smartphone, it will also support up to 40W wired charging and 27W wireless charging.

As usual, the P40 series phones will not be arriving with Google Mobile services. Instead, it will utilize Huawei’s proprietary Huawei Mobile services (HMS) for core functionalities.
