HTC had already scheduled a June 16th launch event where the company is expected to announce the long rumored HTC Desire 20 Pro – a smartphone that will mark HTC’s return to the mid-ranger segment.
Ahead of its official launch, a pair of real life images showing off the front and rear design of the HTC Desire 20 Pro had been leaked by reputable leaker Evan Blass. These images depict a similar form-factor and design as what we’d seen from its earlier schematic drawings.
As seen from the images, the HTC Desire 20 Pro be coming with a hole-punch design at the front, and has a vertical camera module at the back which houses a quad-camera setup.
According to its recent Google Play Console listing, it was revealed that the device will be driven by a mid-ranger Snapdragon 665 SoC. This is the same chip that was used in some of the recent Vivo smartphones.
Along with the SD665 SoC, the device also comes with a decent 6GB RAM in its memory compartment. Most importantly, the Desire 20 Pro will make its name as the first HTC phone to ship with Android 10 OS out of the box.
Although we’re happy to see HTC making a come back to the mid-ranger markets, but its preliminary specs seem to be rather underwhelming as compared to other mid-ranger phones – especially those offered by Redmi and Realme.
Therefore, unless the HTC Desire 20 Pro is priced at an extremely affordable price point, it may find it hard to compete against most of the current mid-ranger phones in the global markets.
