Back in February this year, Sharp announced the company’s first 5G flagship of the year – Sharp Aquos R5G – in the Japanese market. Now, the same device has finally made its way to the global market starting with Taiwan, where it is priced at NT34,990 (US$1,187).
Although Sharp isn’t exactly a household name when it comes to Android smartphones, but we have to admit that the Aquos R5G is really an attractive flagship which explains its hefty price tag.
The Sharp Aquos R5G features a 6.5-inches Pro IGZO display which boasts an impressive QHD+ screen resolution and a buttery-smooth 120Hz screen refresh rate. What’s interesting is that the device has a dual-notched design whereby the top-notch houses a 16 megapixels selfie camera, while the bottom notch play host to a fingerprint scanner.
On the flip-side, the Sharp Aquos R5G comes with an elongated pill-shape housing which is fitted with a quad-cameras array. Its rear cameras consist of a 12 megapixels main camera, 48 megapixels ultra-wide lens, 12 megapixels telephoto lens, as well as a ToF module.
Under the hood, the device is fueled by the flagship Snapdragon 865 SoC supported by 12GB LPDDR5 RAM and 256GB UFS 3.0 flash storage which is further expandable via a microSD card.
To keep its lights on, the Sharp Aquos R5G is equipped with a respectable 3,730mAh battery which is able to support long hours of usage. On the software-side, it will run on the Android 10 OS out of the box.
For those who’re interested, the Sharp Aquos R5G will be offered in three different colorways including Black Ray, Aurora White, as well as Earth Blue.
