As scheduled, OPPO has officially announced the company’s next generation’s 125W flash charge technology during a live-streamed event earlier this afternoon.
According to OPPO, the all new 125W flash charge technology is capable of topping a 4,000mAh battery from 0 to 41% within 5 minutes, and promises a full charge within a short span of just 20 minutes.
In comparison, the current 65W SuperVOOC 2.0 fast-charging technology found in the OPPO Find X2 Pro is only able to deliver a full charge for a 4,260mAh battery in 38 minutes.
The groundbreaking 125W flash charge technology features a dual 6C cells which has 100% higher charge and discharge ratio as compared to the dual 3C cells found in SuperVOOC 2.0.
Coupled with the “industry-leading multiple tab structures, charge pumps and a highly integrated MCU”, it is able to support a charging scheme of up to 20V and 6.25A.
In order to harden its safety protection, it also implements an “advanced encryption algorithm and strict temperature control regulators” that makes flash charging safer and more efficient.
Besides OPPO, other Chinese smartphone makers including iQOO, Realme and Xiaomi are also following closely with their proprietary fast-charging technology.
Recently, iQOO had also hinted that the company’s first smartphone to support 120W fast-charging could debut as early as August next month.
