Here’s our first look at the Huawei P50 Pro!

It has been nearly a year since Huawei announced the company’s flagship P40 series smartphones back in March 26th last year. Since the P series smartphones are known to have a yearly product cycle, it means that the upcoming Huawei P50 series launch is imminent.

Today, courtesy of notorious leaker Steve Hemmerstoffer, we’re able to have our clearest and most detailed first look at the Huawei P50 Pro ahead of its rumored launch in April. This time round, the P50 Pro once again stun us with a fresh and unique design that’s unlike any of the P series smartphones we saw so far.

Upfront, the Huawei P50 Pro has ditched the usual pill-shaped cutout we saw on the P40 series smartphones. Instead, it will feature a central hole-punch design for its front panel which continues to boast pretty pronounced curves along the sides edges. According to Steve, the front display is said to measure 6.6-inches diagonally and the overall dimension of the device stood around 159 x 73 x 8.6 mm.

Around its glass back, we will be greeted by a massive, oval-shaped camera housing which kind of remind us of the Huawei Nova 8 series smartphones. After all, Huawei has always been known for their unconventional design which set their devices apart from others. Finally, it was also noted that the Huawei P50 Pro has a pair of metallic frame around the top and bottom edges of the device where it houses a dual speakers.

At the moment, there isn’t any concrete information pertaining to the specs of its camera configuration. However, recent reports have suggested that Huawei P50 series smartphones may be the first to feature the Sony IMX800 sensor which is alleged to be the world’s first 1” imaging sensor used in smartphones.

Coming to its internals, the Huawei P50 series smartphones will be powered by Huawei’s latest Kirin 9000 mobile platform which is also used in the current Huawei Mate 40 Pro (Review). However, due to the short supply of Kirin 9000 chip, the availability of the upcoming P50 series smartphones may be severely limited.
