Huawei has confirmed that it will be announcing the HarmonyOS 2.0 at 8 PM (local time) on June 2 in China. Apart from confirming its launch, the company renamed the EMUI Weibo account to Harmony OS. Last month, the company claimed that it targets to bring HarmonyOS to 300 million devices.

If you still recall, Huawei first announced the HarmonyOS (also known as Hongmeng OS in China) back in August 2019 during the Huawei Developer Conference. At that time, the company claimed that HarmonyOS is a microkernel-based distributed OS, which is completely different from Android and iOS.

According to a report by MyDrivers, developers who tested the HarmonyOS claimed that it offers good performance and stability, and it not inferior to Android-based EMUI. On top of that, it is also said to bring new features that were not seen on Android before.

According to previous reports, Huawei apparently aims to bring HarmonyOS to over 200 million Huawei devices by the end of this year, and over 100 million devices from third-party companies.

Recently, two devices including the Huawei Mate 40 Pro 4G and MatePad Pro 2 were spotted with HarmonyOS at the TENAA certification site. It is speculated that the company may announce the MatePad Pro 2 and Watch 3 series alongside the HarmonyOS on June 2.

Reports have revealed that the MatePad Pro 2 will come in 12.2-inch and 12.6 screen sizes and it will be powered by the Kirin 9000 chipset. The other specifications of the tablet are under wraps.
