Nokia XR20 Announced: A Rugged smartphone with 5G connectivity

As scheduled, Nokia has officially unveiled the company’s first 5G rugged phone known as the Nokia XR20 that comes with MIL-STD810H certification for it’s ability to withstand drops from up to 1.8 metres.

Besides it’s ruggedized casing on the rear side, the new Nokia XR20 also features Gorilla Glass Victus upfront for it’s front display, and carries an IP68 rating for water and dust resistance.

Diving into the specifics, the Nokia XR20 sports a 6.67” IPS LCD display that offers a FHD+ screen resolution, 60Hz refresh rate, 550 nits peak brightness, as well as an 8 megapixels selfie camera housed within it’s central hole-punch cutout.

On the flipside, the Nokia XR20 boasts a squarish camera island which is home to a dual-cam setup that includes a 48 megapixels (f/1.8 aperture) main camera and a 13 megapixels (f/2.4 aperture) ultra-wide lens.

Under the hood, the Nokia XR20 is powered by an octa-core Snapdragon 480 chipset which is paired with 6GB RAM and 128GB onboard storage which can be further expanded via a microSD card.

Keeping it’s lights on is none other than a respectable 4,620mAh battery which carries support for 18W wired charging and 15W wireless charging. Moving on, the phone also comes with a side-mounted fingerprint scanner, 3.5mm headphone jack, as well as stereo speakers with OZO playback technology.

On the software-side, the Nokia XR20 will be shipped with Android 11 which is covered with four years monthly security updates and three years major OS updates. For those who’re interested, the Nokia XR20 is available in both Ultra Blue and Granite Grey colorways, and is priced at US$549 for it’s sole 6GB+128GB variant.
