Time Travel: Here’s our first look at the Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra

It has been nearly eight months since Samsung unleashed the Galaxy S21 flagship series smartphones in the global market. As we now edge closer toward the launch of it’s next generation’s Galaxy S22 series smartphones (possibly in January/ February), we’re now beginning to hear more about these devices – with the first batch of leaks expectedly coming from well-accredited leaker Steve Hemmerstoffer.

In his latest collaboration with India-based publisher Digit, he had released a series of CAD-based renderings of the forthcoming Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra which give us our first look at the device months ahead of it’s launch.

As seen in the renders, the design of the Galaxy S22 Ultra appears to draw inspiration from the already-axed, Galaxy Note series smartphones – especially with it’s flat design along the upper and bottom edges.

Just like the Galaxy Note series smartphones, the Galaxy S22 Ultra does have a circular slot situated along the left-side of it’s bottom edge to store it’s S Pen stylus as well.

Coming to the front display of the phone, it’s reportedly a 6.8” dual-curve AMOLED display that offers high resolution and refresh rate. The overall dimension of the device is said to measure around 163.2 x 77.9 x 8.9 mm.

At the back of the phone, that’s where we see the greatest contrast with it’s Galaxy S21 Ultra (Review) predecessor. Unlike the former which comes with the so-called contour cut camera design, the upcoming Galaxy S22 Ultra appears to settle with a rather unique P-shaped camera island to accommodate it’s quad-camera system.

Although neither Steve nor Digit India revealed anything about it’s camera specs, but we did heard from past reports that the main camera is likely to be a new generation’s 108 megapixels imaging sensor which will be accompanied by a trio of 12 megapixels cameras for ultra-wide and zoom shots. As for selfies, the Galaxy S22 Ultra will reportedly relies on a 40 megapixels front-facing camera.

Moving on to other aspect of it’s internals, we can well expect the Galaxy S22 Ultra to be powered by either the next-generation’s Qualcomm Snapdragon or Samsung Exynos flagship chip depending on the market where the phone is sold.
