Last year, the Xiaomi Mi 11 (Review) was the first smartphone in the market to be powered by the Snapdragon 888 chipset. This year however, Motorola has beaten the Chinese smartphone giant to become the first in the world to launch a Snapdragon 8 Gen1-powered smartphone known as the Motorola Edge X30.
This high-end model packs a vibrant 6.7” AMOLED display offering a FHD+ screen resolution along with a smooth 144Hz refresh rate as well as a super responsive touch sampling rate of 576Hz. On top of that, it also features other high-end display specs such as 10-bit color depth and HDR10+ support which promises accurate and realistic color reproduction.
Although the regular model adopts a central hole-punch cutout for it’s front-facing camera, but the company also launches a special edition model that comes with an under-display camera which allows the phone to feature an unblemished front display.
On the imaging side of things, the Motorola Edge X30 has a triple-camera array on the rear side comprising of a 50 megapixels main camera, 50 megapixels ultra-wide, as well as a 2 megapixels macro camera to help with close-up photography.
In terms of performance, Motorola claimed that the Snapdragon 8 Gen1-backed device achieved a mind-blowing score of 1,031,631 points on AnTuTu – making it the first smartphone in the market to break the one million mark on the benchmarking platform.
Apart from the remarkable chipset, the Motorola Edge X30 also features up to 12GB worth of blazing-fast LPDDR5 RAM as well as 256GB UFS 3.1 flash storage in the memory department. To keep it’s lights on, the phone is backed with a 5,000mAh battery which carries a respectable 68W charging speed.
Software-wise, the Motorola Edge X30 is also among the first Android smartphones in the market to ship with the new Android 12 OS out of the box. For those who’re interested, the device is available in two color variants including Phantom Black and Glacier Blue.
In the Chinese market, the Motorola Edge X30 is launched with a starting price of 3,199 Yuan (US$510) for it’s 8GB+128GB base model which can goes up to 3,999 Yuan (US$627) for the special edition model with an under-display selfie camera.
