Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra: Five Reasons To Make This Your Next Daily Driver

Samsung recently made headlines with the launch of it’s next-generation’s Galaxy S24 series smartphones that took mobile experience to a whole new level, making them the most complete Android smartphones yet. So if happen to be in the market for a capable flagship phone as your new daily driver, here are five big reasons why the new Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra is the best option you can get at this point of time.

1) Timeless Design That Screams Premium

There’s no doubt Samsung make some of the best-looking smartphones in the market and the new Galaxy S24 Ultra continues to prove this point. Rather than reinventing the wheel, the S24 Ultra refines an existing design which had been tested-and-proven to be popular among Samsung fans.

Some of the key updates include the adoption of a new Titanium frame which adds an extra touch of opulence to the overall handling experience of the phone. In fact, the S24 Ultra is among the small handful of Android phones to feature a more expensive titanium frame that’s proven to be more robust and durable than traditional aluminum frames that are commonly used on high-end devices.

Comparing to last year’s S23 Ultra, you’ll be quick to notice that the new Galaxy S24 Ultra has slightly flatter edges which in my opinion, does makes the phone easier to grip than rounded edges. Likewise, the new S24 Ultra is also a tad slimmer than last year’s model even though you’ll be hard-pressed to tell the differences unless you place them side-by-side.

Elsewhere, the Galaxy S24 Ultra retains the familiar bump-free camera design consisting of five rounded lenses that protrude slightly from them back of the phone. Personally, I much prefer such design as I find the less obstructive as compared to having a large rectangular slab sticking out from the top-left corner which often causes the phone to wobble on flat surfaces.

Color-wise, the Galaxy S24 Ultra will really spoil you for choices. It’s available in a total of seven different colorways such as Titanium Yellow, Titanium Violet, Titanium Black, Titanium Gray, Titanium Orange, Titanium Green, and Titanium Blue.

2) One Of The Best Smartphone Display Around

Featuring a spacious 6.8” QHD+ Dynamic LTPO AMOLED 2X display, the Galaxy S24 Ultra shapes up to be a perfect go-to device for all you entertainment needs. Besides looking sharp and vibrant, the screen also supports a fluid 120Hz refresh rate that makes animation and scrolling felt much smoother on the device.

The main highlight however, lies in it’s impressive peak brightness that can go up to 2,600 nits under harsh sunlight which helps to ensure the screen contents remain visible and legible at all times. To make things even better, the display also has anti-reflective coating that further improves viewing angles especially in outdoor environment. That’s something new for a smartphone, so kudos to Samsung for that!

Also, the display is reinforced by the new Corning Gorilla Glass Armor which isn’t just tougher, but also promises better scratch-resistant than last year’s Gorilla Glass Victus 2 on the S23 Ultra.

3) All The Power You Need Under The Hood

The Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra is among the first few devices to feature the latest Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 mobile platform. Hence, it goes without saying that the phone is able to handle pretty much any tasks you threw at it be it mobile gaming or high-res video editing. This doesn’t came as a surprise considering last year’s Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 itself is already an overkill for most tasks.

However, having an ultra-fast processor alone wouldn’t be enough for those who tend to spend long hours on mobile gaming or photography since the phone will inevitably heats up after sometime when running under peak performance. To tackle that, Samsung has doubled the size of Galaxy S24 Ultra’s Vapor Chamber to improve heat dissipation in order to provide you the smooth graphics experience as it was intended.

Editors’ Picks

Performance-aside, the S24 Ultra’s 5,000mAh battery can easily supports one full day of usage with some extra juice to spare at the end of the day. In the event that the battery runs out, the phone can also be recharged pretty quickly at up to 45W with a compatible charger.

4) AI Features That Revolutionize Our Smartphone Experience

Among the myriad of upgrades, one particular area of focus is the new Galaxy AI features that totally changes the way we work and interact with our smartphones. For me, the coolest feature is none other than the Live Translate function that carries out real-time translation during a voice call.

This works on both end even in the absence an active data connection since the whole translation process takes place natively on the device. While this feature currently supports only 13 languages such as English, Chinese, Hindi, Italian and Japanese, more languages are likely to be added in the near future.

Apart from Live Translate, another noteworthy feature in my opinion is the AI Summarizations feature that’s available within the Notes App. This feature leverages the power of AI to summarize and organize long/ untidy passages into bullet points and headers that are more easily understandable. In fact, it even gives you the ability to customize the summary format into one that you prefer.

Finally, there’s also a Circle to Search feature that really caught my attention. Thanks to this feature, you can simply draw a circle using the S-Pen or your finger around an unidentified object to get Google search results of it. This eliminates the hassle to take screenshots and have them uploaded to Google lens.

5) Fantastic Photography Companion

The Ultra models in Galaxy S series lineup have always been among the best, if not the best, camera smartphones in the market. Hence, it’s no surprising that the new Galaxy S24 Ultra continues to impress in this aspect with a versatile quad-camera system lead by a whopping 200MP main camera, 12MP ultra-wide camera and a pair of zoom lenses comprising of a 50MP periscope telephoto camera and a 10MP telephoto camera.

Regardless of lighting condition, the S24 Ultra is able to capture captivating photos that are comparable to those taken by expensive DSLR cameras. This might sounds a bit exaggerating, but the photos are truly amazing. They look flattering and yet natural, with aplenty details and wide dynamic range.

However, what really sets the S24 Ultra apart from other flagship models is the zooming capability of the device. It’s able to achieve an astonishing 10x optical zoom with little loss of details and minimal color degradation. In fact, you can still easily make out details and features of subjects even at 100x zoom. That’s really how impressive the S24 Ultra’s zoom system is!
