In November, OnePlus became the first brand to launch a Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 phone in the global market. While the OnePlus 15 came equipped with powerful specs, it has been criticized for not offering major camera upgrades over its predecessor, the OnePlus 13. A new leak suggests that the OnePlus 16 may arrive with some major improvements in the camera department.
OnePlus 16 camera specs predicted

According to a reliable tipster, Digital Chat Station, OnePlus has embraced 200-megapixel cameras for its phones arriving in 2026. He added that the imaging strategy for the Find N series closely mirrors OnePlus’ iterative flagship camera approach, boldly predicting that the OnePlus 16 will be equipped with a 200-megapixel main camera.
For those who are unfamiliar, a recent leak by the same source revealed that the Oppo Find N6, which is expected to launch in January 2026, will have a 200-megapixel camera accompanied by two 50-megapixel cameras. A previous leak claimed that the N6 could arrive with a Sony LYT-808 main camera.
To recall, the OnePlus 15 and Oppo Find N5 have the same Sony LYT-700 main camera and a 50-megapixel Samsung JN5 periscope telephoto camera. While the OP15 has a 50-megapixel ultra-wide lens, the Find N5 has an 8-megapixel ultra-wide camera. Hence, there is a possibility that the OnePlus 16 may inherit the Find N6’s primary and periscope telephoto cameras.
At present, there is no information about the OnePlus 16’s launch timeframe. Considering that the OnePlus 15 debuted in China in October 2025, it is likely that its successor may hit the home market in the same month next year.
Currently, the brand is busy teasing the arrival of the OnePlus Turbo 6 series, which is set to launch on Jan. 8 in China. The lineup has two phones, namely the Turbo 6 and Turbo 6V, both packing a massive 9,000mAh battery and up to a 165Hz refresh rate display. These phones are reportedly powered by the Snapdragon 8s Gen 4 and 7s Gen 4 chipsets, respectively.
