Moto X Play to be renamed Droid Maxx 2 at Verizon?

Although it was initially reported that the latest Moto X Play handset from Motorola will not be released in the US market, there seems to be a twist now.

Apparently, the device will be heading to the US market but it will be rebranded as Droid Maxx 2 instead for Verizon. We’re not sure whether other carries will be carrying this handset, but at least for now we can confirm that the Moto X Play will be offered in US.

Alongside the Droid Maxx 2, there have also been rumors that the carrier will be bringing the Droid Turbo 2 handset to their lineups as well.
