OPPO set to become the third largest smartphone maker in 2021

According to a new report by Taiwanese outlet DigiTimes, we can expect to see major change to the global smartphone market in the upcoming year.

Based on their research, Chinese smartphone giant OPPO is expected to be the biggest winner in 2021 as the company is forecasted to become the third largest smartphone maker in the global market behind Samsung and Apple.

As for Vivo, Xiaomi and Transmission Holding (which owns Tecno, Itel and Infinix), these companies are expected to occupy the forth to sixth positions respectively.

Sadly speaking, the ongoing US trade ban will cause Chinese telecommunication giant Huawei to slip from the current top 3 position all the way down to seventh place in the following year.

Other than that, the same report also noted that the global smartphone shipments could grow by a double digit rate or a staggering 150 million units in 2021.
