Redmi Note 8 2021 is now official with MediaTek Helio G85 chipset

After all the teasing, Xiaomi has finally announced the Redmi Note 8 2021, a refreshed model of the 2019’s Redmi Note 8 smartphone to commemorate the sales of 25 million Redmi Note 8 devices globally.

Upfront, the Redmi Note 8 2021 retains the same 6.3” IPS LCD display that offers a FHD+ screen resolution and a standard 60Hz screen refresh rate. As usual, the front display gets an additional layer of Gorilla Glass 5 atop to protect the screen against accidental drops or scratches.

In the imaging department, the phone comes with a quad-camera system at the back consisting of a 48 megapixels main camera, 8 megapixels ultra-wide camera, 2 megapixels macro camera, as well as a 2 megapixels depth sensor. This will be rounded out by a 13 megapixels front-facing camera for selfie and video-callings.

Under the hood, the Redmi Note 8 2021 is powered by an octa-core MediaTek Helio G85 instead of the Snapdragon 665 chipset used in the 2019’s model. On top of that, it also brings along 4GB RAM and up to 128GB onboard storage that can be further expanded via a microSD card.

The device draws power from a 4,000mAh battery which carries support for 18W fast-charging – though it gets a 22.5W charger out of the box. Other than that, the Redmi Note 8 2021 also features a 3.5mm headphone jack, rear-mounted fingerprint scanner, IR Blaster, as well as MIUI 12.5 based on Android 11.

At the moment, the official pricing and availability of the Redmi Note 8 2021 has yet to be revealed by the company.
