US firm sues Xiaomi for infringing patents in unannounced Mi 5 and Mi 5 Plus

It seems like Chinese smartphone giant Xiaomi is now facing some legal issues in the U.S. after a firm by the name of Blue Spike LLC filed a patent infringement suit against the company.

According to sources, several Xiaomi devices have been allegedly infringed on patent 8,930,719 B2 titled “Data Protection Method and Device”. Among these devices include the unannounced Xiao Mi 5 and Mi 5 Plus which are set to be released next year.

Apparently, reports have also claimed that the same company had also been involved in several other patent infringement lawsuits with major companies including Google and Facebook and suggested that the company is nothing more than a patent troll.
